Cardboard machinery: industrial solutions adapted to your production line

At KDT Ibérica we work with industrial companies that need to mechanise or expand their cardboard packaging line. Our catalogue covers from box assembly to closing, die-cutting and dimensional control, with machines that we adapt to your production volume and the box dimensions you require.

If you manage a logistics warehouse, a food processing plant or a packaging manufacturing line, here you will find the solution that fits your process.

Cardboard box sealers: fast and secure closing

A cardboard box sealing machine is the machine responsible for closing and sealing the box once the product is already inside. It works with adhesive tape or strapping and can operate manually, semi-automatically or fully automatically depending on the model and the speed of your line.

Our KDT cardboard sealers are designed to adapt to different box formats without complicated tooling changes. They are especially useful in sectors such as logistics, food, e-commerce and the pharmaceutical industry, where secure and uniform closure of packaging is a quality requirement.

Cardboard die cutter WG8C1

Cardboard die-cutting machines carry out the cutting and forming of the sheet with a precision that manual cutting cannot match. They enable the manufacture of boxes with complex geometries, windows, tabs and perforations in series, maintaining tight tolerances in each cycle.

Our WG8C1 model is designed for companies working with corrugated cardboard and requiring format flexibility without sacrificing speed. You can view the complete technical data sheet and request a demonstration from our cardboard die-cutting machines.

Automatic box former: assembles boxes without an operator

An automatic box former takes the folded and flat cardboard sheet, unfolds it, forms it and glues or seals it at the base, leaving it ready to be filled. All this without any operator having to assemble the box by hand.

The main advantage is the saving in time and personnel costs: a mid-range cardboard box assembly machine can form between 15 and 30 boxes per minute, a pace that an operator cannot sustain throughout the entire shift. Furthermore, it eliminates assembly errors that later result in poorly sealed or damaged boxes during transport.

It is the most sought-after solution for companies that have grown and can no longer manage manual assembly at their current production volume. If your line exceeds 500 boxes per day, automation of assembly begins to pay for itself rapidly.

Package measurement: integrated dimensional control in-line

Dimensional control is the step that many companies incorporate when they want to reduce expenditure on packaging material or ensure that packages meet your logistics operators' specifications. A package measuring machine measures the length, width and height of the package in motion and records or rejects those that are out of range.

8M2 Package Measuring Machine

The 8M2 model integrates directly into the packing line and offers real-time measurement with high precision. It reduces the volume of claims for out-of-specification packages and facilitates volumetric billing with carriers.

Types of cardboard machinery we offer at KDT

We group our cardboard machinery into four main families according to the function they perform within the packing line:

  • Cardboard box sealers: close and seal the box at the end of the process.
  • Cardboard die cutters: cut and form cardboard sheets with precision.
  • Automatic box forming machines: assemble the box from the flat sheet without the need for an operator.
  • Package measuring machines: verify package dimensions integrated into the line itself.

Each family addresses a specific need. The most common approach is to combine two or three of them to build a complete and seamless packing line.

How to choose the right box-making machine for your company?

There is no single answer, but there are four criteria that guide almost all purchasing decisions:

If you have doubts about which combination best suits your case, our guide on how to choose a cardboard box sealer.

Production volume and required speed

  • Less than 300 boxes/day: semi-automatic solutions.
  • Between 300 and 1,000 boxes/day: partial automation with sealer or former.
  • More than 1,000 boxes/day: complete line with former, sealer and integrated measurement.

Format and box type

  • Standard American case: any model in our range handles it.
  • Cases with special die-cutting or irregular geometry: the WG8C1 is the reference.
  • High grammage corrugated cardboard: consult compatibility with our technical team.

Operational and installation factors

  • If you have operators available: a semi-automatic reduces cost without eliminating the position.
  • If you want to reduce dependence on labour: the automatic case former is the key investment.
  • If you need process data: add package measurement with ERP output.

Available floor space

  • Compact machines are installed in lines with limited run.
  • Complete lines require planning the layout with our engineering team.

Why choose KDT Ibérica for your cardboard machinery

There are several cardboard machinery suppliers in the market, but few offer what KDT brings to the table when you make a real comparison:

  • Physical showrooms in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. You can see the machines running before deciding. We don't work only with catalogues or videos: we invite you to run a test with your own cardboard type and case formats.
  • Bespoke adaptation. If your line has a particular format, space or integration requirement with other equipment, our engineering team studies the solution before quoting. We don't force your production to fit a standard machine.
  • Specialist after-sales service with coverage across the Peninsula. The after-sales technical service is in-house, not subcontracted. That means shorter response times and technicians who know the machines inside out.
  • Warranty and spare parts available. We work with parts stock for the models in our range, which reduces downtime in case of breakdown.
  • Combined experience in wood and cardboard. KDT has been supplying industrial machinery in both sectors for years. That knowledge base gives us an advantage when a customer needs to integrate the packaging line with the rest of their production process.

Frequently asked questions about cardboard machinery

The case erector assembles the box from a flat blank: it unfolds, forms and closes the base. The case sealer works at the end of the process: it closes the lid of the box once it is already filled. They are complementary machines, not alternatives to each other.

Yes. The WG8C1 die-cutting machine and the case sealers in our range work with single and double-face corrugated cardboard. If you have questions about specific grammages or thicknesses, please consult us before requesting a quote.

It depends on the model and whether it forms part of a complete line. For individual machines, the usual installation and operator training period is one to three days. For complete lines, we plan the project in advance to minimise the impact on your production.

Basic preventive maintenance (cleaning, lubrication and inspection of wear parts) is carried out every three to six months depending on usage. Our After-Sales & Technical Service can manage a scheduled maintenance contract if you prefer not to handle it internally.

Yes. We have operational showrooms in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Contact us to arrange a visit and, if required, we can run a test with your boxes and your usual cardboard.
