Industrial edge banding machines for wood and furniture

At KDT Ibérica we offer you a complete range of edge banding machines designed for joinery workshops, furniture manufacturers and any workshop that demands a professional finish on wood panels.

Whether you produce in short runs or manage a high-output line, here you will find the edge banding machine that fits your process, and the technical support to get the most out of it from day one.

What is an edge banding machine and what is it used for?

An edge banding machine is the machine that applies a strip of material (ABS, PVC, wood veneer, melamine or others) to the edge of a processed panel. The result is a clean, durable finish that protects the panel edge, improves the aesthetics of the final piece of furniture and extends its service life.

Without this process, edges remain exposed to moisture, impact and wear. With a good edgebander integrated into the line, the panel comes out ready for assembly or dispatch in a single pass, which translates into less rework and higher productivity.

Edge banding can be carried out with EVA adhesive (the most common in standard joinery) or with PUR adhesive (for higher moisture or mechanical resistance requirements).

Some models in our catalogue incorporate a dual-compartment glue tank to work with both without downtime.

Types of edge banding machines: choose the right one for your workshop

Not all edgebanders are the same, and the choice depends mainly on your production volume, the type of workpiece you work with and the level of automation you need.

Single-sided edge banding machines

They are the entry point for medium-sized workshops and for lines that process one face at a time. They work at a feed speed that typically ranges between 12 and 25 m/min depending on the model, and accept edge thicknesses from 0.4 mm up to more than 3 mm of ABS or PVC.

Their control can be manual or via touchscreen, and most integrate trimming, scraping and polishing units in a single pass.

They are the most versatile solution on the market: they take up little space, adapt to different panel sizes and allow quick changeover between references. If you produce medium runs of bespoke furniture, a well-configured single-sided machine covers 80% of your edge banding needs.

Double-sided and CNC edge banding machines

When production volume grows, the double-sided edgebander works both parallel edges of the panel simultaneously, doubling throughput without adding operators. Adjustments are automatic and managed from a control screen; higher-power motors guarantee constant feed speed even with large-format panels.

The CNC edge banding machine takes it a step further: it integrates numerical control to manage all parameters (pressure, height, speed, glue temperature) from a single point, with the ability to save work programmes and reproduce them without manual intervention.

These are the machines chosen by furniture manufacturers with series production where the finish must be uniform piece by piece.

Key technical parameters when comparing edge banding machines

Before choosing a model, it is important to understand these values:

  • Forward speed: determines how many linear metres you process per minute. Mid-range single-sided machines work between 12 and 18 m/min; double-sided and CNC machines can exceed 25 m/min.
  • Permitted edge thickness: ranges from 0.4 mm (thin ABS edges) up to 3 mm or more (postformed). Verify that the chosen model covers the materials you use.
  • Glue type and glue pot: the dual-compartment glue pot allows alternating between EVA and PUR without downtime. In production with moisture requirements, PUR makes the difference in the final result.
  • Roller pressure: adjustable pressure guarantees uniform adhesion on edges of different materials and thicknesses.
  • Maximum panel height: important if you work with thick panels or pieces with special profile cuts.
  • Digital control and display: facilitates programme changes between references and reduces operator error margin.
  • Finishing units: trimming, fine scraping, buffing and corner sealing determine the quality of the final finish without additional operations.

The industrial edge banding machine

The edge banding machine is a tool designed for those who work in the industrial machinery sector, adapting to the sector's demands with a modern design and high-quality components.

Each stage of the process has been designed to provide optimal results in precision, speed and safety, optimising the use of tools, adhesives, edges and materials in the manufacture of furniture and wood products.

If you're looking for a technological partner for your work processes, here you'll find complete information about the ideal solution for edge finishing.

Technical features and innovative design

With a combination of technology and robustness, this edge banding machine is positioned as an indispensable tool in environments where finishing quality is crucial. Its design favours the use of adhesives, achieving effective bonding in every application.

Performance: speed and precision in the process

The operation and capacity of these automatic edge banding machines is based on an integrated system that combines speed and precision.

The technology implemented in the machine ensures continuous and smooth operation, which is reflected in the final finish of the product. Precision in application is achieved through regulation of the roller speed, which spreads the adhesive uniformly over the panel edge precisely onto the bonding area.

In this way, excess or insufficient adhesive is avoided, guaranteeing a uniform and strong adhesion. Furthermore, the edgebander's efficiency is based on the integration of high-performance components.

Among these, the high-power motors stand out, responsible for driving the machinery at a speed that contributes to high continuous and reliable production.

Frequently asked questions about edge banding machines

The manual or semi-automatic edgebander applies the edge with operator assistance and is suitable for very low production volumes or one-off pieces.

The industrial edgebander automates adhesive application, pressing, trimming and finishing in a single pass, with feed speeds from 12 m/min onwards. For any workshop processing more than 20-30 panels per day, the industrial option is cost-effective.

Depending on the model, our edgebanders accept edges from 0.4 mm up to 3 mm or more. Softforming models work with continuous-radius postformed profiles. Please consult us about the specific model if you work with unusual thicknesses or materials.

Not on all models. Models with a melter prepared for PUR (such as the KE-493G, KE-520GU or KE-668JSGB, amongst others) are designed to manage the cleaning cycle required by this adhesive.

If you need to work with PUR, indicate this when requesting a quote so we can recommend the appropriate model.

You can do so from each machine's page on our website or via the contact form. We will respond with a tailored proposal based on your production, panel type and the level of automation you require.
